Reading these honestly
2026 is a partial year. Annual totals stop at 2025; the IMF's debt and balance reach 2025 in the October 2026 vintage, while general-government revenue and expenditure stop at 2024.
Two fiscal perimeters, never spliced: the IMF's general government on an accrual basis (revenue 15-19% of GDP) and the MEF's central administration on cash (13-15%). The gap of about four points of GDP is perimeter, not error, and the chapter draws both.
Two population denominators, 9% apart: INE's revision 2024 is anchored on the 2022 census (6,417,076 in 2025) and the UN series the World Bank carries is not (7,013,000). The GDP-per-person reading in the strip uses the UN denominator, so the comparison viewer compares every country on the same basis; the population reading is INE's.
The guaraní has no minor unit in practice and was never redenominated: the proposal to divide by 1,000 was abandoned in 2023. Every guaraní figure is current guaraníes of its own year, in the unit its column name states.
2019 and 2020 are the only consecutive negative years (-0.4% and -0.8%) and are banded as one recession. 2022, at -0.03%, is a stagnation and is not banded.
Itaipú and Yacyretá are fiscal revenue under the binational treaties, not a hydro share of GDP: the royalties and the energy-cession compensation are drawn in the trade lens, labelled as what they are. The 2025 collapse in the cession follows the Annex C revision of Itaipú's tariff; the data annotate the fact, not the cause.
The plates are drawn in the three languages this country publishes — Spanish, English and Portuguese — and so is this page. Guaraní is co-official (Law 4251/2011), but no publisher in this directory issues statistical tables in Guaraní, so there is no official vocabulary to anchor a translation; it is recorded as future work in DATA_NOTES.md.
Argentina's share of export destinations for 2016-2020 was published as zero in the first pass by an XML reading bug; the plate draws the values the Fund's payload carries, and DATA_NOTES.md documents the correction.
